Hello Everyone! Hope you're all having a wonderful day so far, I woke up today and saw that the sky was just so cloudy from all the smoke that's been hanging around. I hope everyone is safe, fires are such a tragic disaster and what's even more tragic is that one of them was caused by a gender reveal party.... I have no words..
I wanted to talk about the book I'm currently reading, sort of give an overview of what the book's premise is and just give my thoughts as of now. I'll be doing a book review for it once I finish it, I'm not sure when I will because in my last post I mentioned that I'm not going to pressure myself with the content I'm making for this blog. I'm currently in school and a lot of my time will be spent reading for my classes so whenever I finish this book I'll keep you all updated.
The Premise:
Soon after her twenty-fifth birthday, Libby Jones returns home from work to find the letter she's been waiting for her entire life. She rips it open with one driving thought: I am finally going to know who I am. She learns not only the identity of her parents but also that she is the sole inheritor of their abandoned mansion on the banks of the Thames in London's fashionable Chelsea neighborhood. The home, even in its dilapidated state, is worth millions. Everything in Libby's life is about to change. What she doesn't know is that others have been waiting for this day as well-- and although they've been in hiding, they are now heading her way. Nearly twenty-five years ago, police were called to 16 Cheyne Walk with reports of a baby crying. When they arrived, they found a healthy ten-month-old safe and sound in the upstairs bedroom. In the kitchen, three dead bodies, all dressed in blacks, were seemingly posed next to a hastily scrawled note. The four other children reported to live at Cheyne Walk were gone.
My Thoughts so far :
I'm at about page 100 right now and this book has 352 pages so I'd say I'm about a third way into it. I've heard a lot of great things about this book from some booktubers that I watch so I decided to give it a shot. Especially since we are coming close to the spooky season I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to read it and I just love anything horror related. So far though the pace of the book has been slow but what's good is that I'm at least still being engaged throughout it because I'm slowly getting the motivation that the character is feeling by uncovering her past and finding out what's happened in that house. One thing I'm not enjoying so much is the transition between the different characters/ perspectives. It's a little bit confusing because it doesn't really mention who's view it is, you sort of just have to read like the first sentences to get the idea that oh it's this character speaking. The author does break up the character's transitions with each chapter but I just feel as though it could be executed a bit better. This is as far as I am though right now, so when I finish this I'll be giving my full thoughts of this book.
I want to also mention that not every book I read has to be annotated or related to mental health topics. If I can kind find some interesting points along the way in which I can relate it back to the mental health aspect, then I will. But so far I haven't found anything in this book that I really feel as though I can talk about in regards to mental health, so I just wanted to mention that but if I end up annotating some points then of course I'll talk about them in my Book review/ Wrap up. Thank you so much to anyone who's read this post! Please let me know by commenting if you've read this book already and what your comments are about it (of course with no spoilers though).
