Hello everyone! Hope you're all having a good day so far. I've been a little bit busier this week due to some assignment as well as quizzes going on. But other than that I've honestly just been trying to read this book and play this game called Among Us.. have you played it yet? It's pretty fun, it's just basically mafia but taken place on a spaceship. Kind of fitting for this book actually because there's some sort of mystery element surrounded around it. It's not a murder mystery but it has some sort of mysterious aspect of the unknown literally.
So in this post I will be giving the synopsis of this book and just chat a little about what I'm thinking so far. What aspects I'm liking so far and what aspects I don't like. So let's get to it!
Synopsis:
Eight kids, ages nine to seventeen, awaken to find that almost everything they have ever known has been stolen from them. They were ripped from their beds in the middle of the night and transported to an unfamiliar and unforgiving new world where there are strict rules, and they are punished if they refuse to obey.
As the kids grapple with their mysterious new reality, they struggle with disconcerting questions...
Where in the world are they? Why were they taken away from their families? Will they ever get to go back home? And the most frightening question of all... Will this be the place where they die?
My Thoughts So Far:
So the synopsis is pretty vague and it should be. The information that you get away from this book should happen within the book, it's one of those books where you should experience it for yourself. So all we really know so far about this book is about the group of kids that are involved in the kidnapping and they're also trying to figure out the events that have taken place. So one thing I really like so far is that the title of this book is really fitting. You almost feel as though you're one of the kids that is experiencing this first hand, and the setting is unnerving because as the reader you have no clue what's really going on. You try to evaluate each situation as brand new and you sort of root for the kids to find out what the fuck has just happened, so I really like the aspect of empathy being involved. You feel empathic towards the situation and it makes you want to read more of the book. The only con I can think about for now is that some of the writing seems amateur, like some aspects of this book feels as though maybe it was written loosely and it's hard to find connections but this book is gripping overall right now so the pros really out way the cons. I'm really intrigued and want to finish this book soon, and it feels as though I will be finishing it soon, because I have about a third left.
Well we've reached the end. This is where I'm currently at with the book so soon enough I will be reviewing this book. I do have annotations for this book this time around so I will make sure to include them in the book review I make, and I already have 2 aspects I want to apply back to psychology. I'm really excited for this book review because it'll be an interesting aspect I haven't explored much of. Thank you to whoever reads this, please leave a comment or any feedback of what you think so far and just let me know, would you pick up this book? And if so for what reason?
