Book Blogger Newbie Tag!

Book Blog Newbie Tag

Question 1: Why did you start this Book Blog?

I started this book blog because I've been wanting to express my thoughts about books that I've read in the past as well as just share the love I have for reading with everyone who decides to view my posts! I've been able to read more because of quarantine and it led me to make a podcast and it's on spotify the name of it is  Yvette Grows Up.  <-- That is a link to my podcast, in it I've just shared my journey with mental health related topics and I sort of started talking about my interests in books and I like the approach of annotating and dissecting them and trying to apply real life methods to a piece of work, it's been really fun so far so I just wanted to make a blog to also highlight that.

Question 2 : What are some fun and unique things you can bring to Book Blogging?

I think my previous answer sort of covers some of that. I want to bring a new approach to what I view reading to be, many people love to read and may not try to apply it as though it's non-fiction, but if i'm reading a fiction book I just want to have the ability to play with the meaning of it and find similarities and relatability between life imitating art and vice versa.

Question 3 : What are you most excited for about this new blog?

I'm excited to see my overall progress with it, I want to see how many books I read. I want to see  the effort I make with the posts because I've sort of been in a writing slump and this motivation is really helping me to at least express myself even if it's in a different form. I'm in my last semester of undergrad so although I'm barely starting this blog I may get a bit busy to even post often because I probably won't be reading as much but honestly I don't want the pressure of having to read just to make this content. This is for me to have fun with and that means I shouldn't have to pressure myself to do something when I can't.

Question 4 :  Why do you love reading?

What's not to love about reading? I love the imagination aspect when it comes to reading a story unfold before you. Not only are you imagining the characters without an actual visual behind it, but you're imagining the whole world they see, the perspectives they have, the environment in which they live in. To imagine that in your head is a beauty! I love reading for the same reason people love just about anything they do, a form of it is escapism and with reading I find myself escaping into completely different worlds each time.

Question 5 :  What book or series got you into reading?

I have a pretty shitty memory when it comes to my childhood for various reasons but I just know that I loved reading ever since I was able to read. I loved going to the library in elementary school and picking up the books we would have to read during our class time, the touch, the smell, the way it made me feel were all reasons I loved reading. So it's hard for me to remember what book really got me into reading but I could definitely say a series that intrigued me to just read more and more would have to be scary stories to tell in the dark! Omg what a masterpiece honestly, like as a kid I loved it, I loved anything creepy anything chilly, I love horror and scary movies but this series was unlike any other. I think it transcends its time, if I had a copy of the book I'm sure it would still creep me out today. I haven't seen the movie yet! But I would love to, I love the use of actual props and makeup instead of cgi.

Scary Stories Treasury: Three Books to Chill Your Bones [Paperback compilation]: Alvin Schwartz, Stephen Gammell: 9780062283009: Amazon.com: Books

I specifically remember this cover and this book... man like this would definitely give little kids nightmares.

Question 6 :  What questions would you ask your favorite Booktubers?

I edited this question because I honestly haven't checked out a lot of book blogs but I love booktube and have been watching and catching up with my faves. I guess I would just ask them if they could only read one book for the rest of their lives, what would it be? I know that's such a shitty question, cause like why torture someone with that? It's like asking what's your favorite movie... it's so hard to even choose or decide, but I'm just curious to know what they would say.

Question 7 :  What challenges do you think starting a book blog will be the hardest to overcome?

I think one of the hardest challenges I'll have to overcome is the consistency with it. I want to be consistent and try my best to stay motivated because I truly love reading and I don't ever want my passion for it die out because of something I want to create with it. But I just hope that I'll be able to do well and create posts that make me happy and reflects my emotions with the books I'll be reading in the future, I love creating but I tend to fall short because I get disinterested quickly, but I shall try my best!

Question 8 :  When did you start reading?

I started reading when I was a kid haha. I feel like this question could be better honestly, but I understand what it's meant for. I just basically began my love for reading when I was in elementary school.

Question 9 :  Where do you read?

Usually in the comfort of my own bed with my spooky ghost blanket to be precise!

It's this one!
Honestly I can read wherever though, just has to be sort of ambient, but I could read in a car as well.

Question 10 :  What kind of books do you like to read?

I typically like reading anything from memoirs to self help books, to YA books. I like anything mental health related so I typically try to incorporate getting psychology books because that's the field I'm studying in. I like horror books but recently I've been trying to incorporate middle grade books! For some reason I didn't really touch middle grade books because I just assumed like it's not meant for me, the reading age for it is for children. But I was like what the fuck? Why am I limiting myself to what I can read? There is no limit! Some of the greatest tales as well as the most successful movies have come from middle grade literature, so I finally stopped being such a scaredy cat about it and put some books I'd like to read in my little box of the books I want to read.

This is the end of the tag! Omg thank you to whoever reads this to the end. You're a trooper. I hope you enjoyed it, I did at least. I hope in the future I'll be able to do some other book related tags even if it's meant for booktube.. I'll just do it! I'm hoping to post tomorrow as well for the book I'm currently reading.

Hello Everyone! I'm getting through these books much faster than I really anticipate to. But I keep getting books that I'm really enjoying which motivates me to take time to read them more. I just bought 3 new books and they should be coming soon so I'll make sure to post them in order from when I do read them. Let's get started in this book review.  Introduce the book:  Eight kids, ages nine to seventeen, awaken to find that almost everything they have ever known has been stolen from them. They were ripped from their beds in the middle of the night and transported to an unfamiliar and unforgiving new world where there are strict rules, and they are punished if they refuse to obey. As the kids grapple with their mysterious new reality, they struggle with disconcerting questions... Where in the world are they? Why were they taken away from their families? Will they ever get to go back home? And the most frightening question of all... Will this be the place where they die...

Currently Reading: The Unknown by J.W. LYNNE

Hello everyone! Hope you're all having a good day so far. I've been a little bit busier this week due to some assignment as well as quizzes going on. But other than that I've honestly just been trying to read this book and play this game called Among Us.. have you played it yet? It's pretty fun, it's just basically mafia but taken place on a spaceship. Kind of fitting for this book actually because there's some sort of mystery element surrounded around it. It's not a murder mystery but it has some sort of mysterious aspect of the unknown literally.  So in this post I will be giving the synopsis of this book and just chat a little about what I'm thinking so far. What aspects I'm liking so far and what aspects I don't like. So let's get to it! Synopsis:  Eight kids, ages nine to seventeen, awaken to find that almost everything they have ever known has been stolen from them. They were ripped from their beds in the middle of the night and trans...
